Finally, A DIY's dream come true. Lol

I'm absolutely NOT a mechanic, but I fixed 1 car the day I got it, and 2 the next day. Mechanics have told me to buy a newer truck... (nahhh) Or they just couldn't figure it out.... (hmmm) but maybe they just didn't want to do the work. Idk ?‍?
I know a couple good mechanics, however they're always booked solid because they're good. I needed my fam car fixed asap... ✔?
I wanted to fix my old 97 k1500 truck... ✔?
My 08 Tahoe needed some maintenance... so I scanned it, read live data, checked some references on data that you'd see if nothing is wrong...
Checked what is out of normal range. Cleaned, replaced etc.... Boom ✔?

Updating the free software with provide the newest settings shown on the 2023 model.

In purchasing this item I wanted the 2023 (newest) model. I received what appeared to be the 2022 model. Little did I know nor was it expressed that updating the free software would update the settings and the display to 2023 model (via the software). This is my first scanner of this quality and I am very pleased with it.

I'll preface this by saying I am an mechanic of 13 years and have used SEVERAL scantools of different brand and generations. The quick summary: this tool is decent and will do a good amount of what the more expensive tools do. The long summary: I currently own a snap on Zeus and an autel something or another. I use the Zeus for everything but German cars and the autel for German cars. The Zeus will connect and anything above 2002 will automatically decent the VIN and connect and I can scan and do bidirectional communication, resets, etc.. within a few seconds, which is worth the $10k I spent on it for the time it saves me as a flat rate mechanic. The autel pickes up the slack where the Zeus lacks since it can do most of the things a vw tool will do where the Zeus won't. All the resets and scan functions are very clunky and slow but all in one spot. THIS tool however is much slower to use than either of those 2 (I'm using them as comparison because I use both daily and they're basically the best on the market). If your doing at home stuff, that is not a big deal at all, and infact I got this to keep at home so I don't have to tempt fate on forgetting it at home when I need it at work. Also, to do any bidirectional tests or resets, you need to exit out of the vehicle, select which test you want to run, then redetect the vehicle again. Which takes about 2 minutes. Not a major deal if your not paid by the job, but it's very cumbersome. The oil reset feature is cool for the mini cooper unused it on, since it automatically set the date and time in the instrument cluster when resetting the oil. I had done a battery so all that was lost and saved me some hassle setting it manually. Also lifetime updates is unheard of for scantools, which this has. That's $1k per year for snap on. I've never updated my autel but it's almost the same as buying a new autel if you need to update. So that alone may be worth it for a lot of people.

Overall, the interface is a bit clunky and not all the features exist from significantly more expensive scantools, but it has way more features than I'd expect at this price point. If your a diyer who want something more powerful than the basic scanner, this is a good option
