I'm extremely happy with this Bi Directional Scanner. It is very capable and I love the ECU test functions It has, allowing you to operate and test things like opening and closing windows, door locks, sunroof, etc, with just the press of a button on the scan tool itself. The scanner is usable on pretty much all makes and models you can think of. It allows you to troubleshoot/reset CEL lights with ease. It is a great size. The font on it is very easy to read and the screen is very bright. The tablet has a nice little foldable stand on the backside of it so you can prop it up while you're using it. It is very helpful that it is Bluetooth and connects to your cars OBD II port with a little wireless dongle. This is nice as you're not tethered to the car and can get very comfortable while troubleshooting. This unit also allows you to intelligently diagnose the entire car and then send a report it generates with what's wrong with the car through email (as it can be connected to wi-fi.. This is great If you have customers you want to show what's going on with her vehicle. The scanner comes with a ton of different attachments for connecting to wiring harnesses, etc. Since the scanner is able to connect to Wi-Fi, it can be updated by the company with new software as it comes out. This keeps the scanner from being obsolete in a year or two. This is another great feature in my eyes. I think this scanner is great value for the money and I recommend it.
I'm an older seasoned automotive technician, I'm reviewing this product based on my many years of experience in the field using high quality tools and equipment. This scanner is primarily used for OBD2 (On Board Diagnostics 2nd generation) based vehicles (96 and newer), but the kit does include some OBD1 adapters to work on the pre 1996 vehicles. Scanner is slightly smaller than the commercial grade scanners we use in the shop, but is large enough to be easily read. The screen is bright, clear, and crisp, so easy to see values and read information. Has the typical onscreen menu based diagnostics platform. Readings on this scanner compared to our normal shop scanner showed it to be reasonably correct. It does have Bi-Directional control functions on various systems to assist in diagnostics. Has sensor reset function which should work with most common makes and models. Scanner has typical maintenance reset functions for oil changes, TPMS, and many other items that need reset from time to time. Scanner uses a wireless OBD2 dongle which eliminates the scanner cord which is helpful when working on a car, pre 1996 OBD1 adapters use a short cord to attach the wireless dongle. Outer scanner case is somewhat padded for high use conditions, and unit appears to be somewhat robust in design.
MUCAR VO8
Product seems to work just fine no issues has a lot of OBD plug adapters that could be useful for some but nothing I have ever needed. My honest opinion is I wish I would not have bought it just because I have a thinkdiag and I have used it for years and for many many many vehicles and I honestly thought this would do something more but it’s basically the same thing but I don’t need to use my phone…. Its play back data is better and its graph data is better but for the price difference it’s not worth it. Maybe it will be if I was working on newer vehicles but so far I have done 2000-2019 chevys jeep Honda Isuzu.
My review may go up or down depending on how the scanner performs in the future. I have scanned a Toyota, Audi and a Honda. This is an impressive tool. The only glitch is the Mucar thinks the Honda is a diesel. Well it's definetly a gas engine. I have not spent more than a couple of hours so need to figure that out.
The build quality appears to be quite good, time will tell. So far as I have used it I think the tool represents excellent value. If I can get the scanner to work on the Honda I will increase my review to at least 4 stars or more. The case needs a re-design. That alone would prevent 5 stars.
