MUCAR 892BT PRO

Having used many diagnostic tools over the years, the Murcar 892BT PRO really stands out compared to many that I have used or own, it comes in a really nice drop proof box which feels very sturdy and right out of the box you can tell it is a quality bit of kit. It has a reassuring weight to it, and the thick rubberised border feels tough enough to survive bouncing off a bonnet or a workshop floor.

Booting up takes no time at all approximately 20 seconds.
The menu layout is completely intuitive, making it incredibly straightforward to jump in and out of modules without wasting time guessing where to go It also connects easily to Wi-Fi or mobile hotspots.

The guided functions for European cars (Audi, VW, BMW, etc.) Is excellent—once you enter a module, it connects to Murcsr servers to pull up the exact diagnostic guidance you need.

For me the real game-changer is the built-in kickstand, (little things please little minds) Being able to stand it up or hang it on the steering wheel makes working hands-free so much easier. Murcar seemed to have skimped on the extra as you only get a multi-region mains plug (UK/EU/US) and a tyoe C to USB A lead that is used for changing the tablet so no VCI extender or F-Chassis lead or RJ45 connectors.
I questioned custoner service online about the missing leads a have been informed that they are not necessary on the 892BT Pro as the protocols are already in the 892Bt Pro and you can just connect it directly to the VCI using the supplied Type C to USB A cable 🤔🤔🤔 I will find out I guess.

The magnetic holder on the back the tablet for the VCI is brilliant so you will hopefully not lose it when not in use.

This tool easily fits the bill for a small garage or a weekend DIYer and You can also purchase extra module that are compatible with the Murcar 892BTPro i.e. (Battery tester-Oscilloscope - TPMS - Videoscope-Printer and Key programmer), I have found the TPMS and Bluetooth Battery Tester that are compatible but they are not Murcar branded they are Thinkcar and are as follows: Battery Tester (Thinkcar Thinkeasy V2) TPMS (Thinkcar Venu-i Pro)

All in all though the absolute best feature is the free lifetime updates. Its value is highly underestimated; my tools sometimes sit on the shelf when life gets busy, but I never have to worry about subscription fees or outdated software here as the update capability is never ending so you never have to pay again.

It will easily diagnose faults on the majority of makes and models and in addition has 35+ maintenance reset functions, depending on the specific software update version installed.

It will fit the bill for almost everyone except top-tier technicians who may require heavy module programming or specialised key coding. It also has the topology mapping which is a very handy tool for defining where issues are and on what canbus.
The Muai AI assistant is a nice touch and when when activated it off a vehicle report or link on fault list it will go off and give you a break down of the issue and possible remedys.

If you are a novice, there are plenty of online guides to help build your confidence and may well be that the standard Murcar 892BT will do all you need and to be honest the extra money you pay the Murcar 892BT Pro compared to the standard 892BT is excessive in my eyes as the only difference is the Topology and J2534 capability.
I have bought and reviewed many tools from other suppliers (Xtool, Kingnolen and Ediag ) to name a few and I always pay for my tools and give my unbiased opinion on the tools that I review.
The Murcar 892BT Pro is an excellent tool but does come at an high price point and I will still need to confirm that F-chassis cables etc are not required for BMW programming but will come back and confirm if it is required or not.
If the cables are required then that's a big negative for the Pro version especially due to the initial cost of the tool.
I hope my review assists you as I know deciding which scan tool to get is a minefield, remember the more you pay the more you get but in reality 99% of DiYers or Small workshops would find everything they need in this tool.

This is a top-end tool. 10/10 in my view, is it worth the extra money compared to the 892BT standard version I guess time will tell but I have a hunch that the extra cost and lack of any required cables (to be confirmed) I have uploaded a picture of whats in the box which isn't alot compared to the majority of scanners that are sold at this price point. This means that unless you need the topology and J2534 capability the standard version will definitely be the best option for the majority of Diyers and small workshops as the standard version is identical except for those capabilities.

I wasn't sure how much I would use the topology feature, but it has become one of my favorite parts of the scanner.

Shipping was much faster than I expected. I ordered the scanner and had it at my door two days later. Everything was packed well and the unit arrived in perfect condition. Setup was straightforward and I was scanning my car the same afternoon. I've only used a few of the functions so far, but first impressions are very good.

The 892BT PRO is on a completely different level. The full system scan gives me a much better picture of what's going on instead of just pulling an engine code. I also like the topology view because I can quickly see which modules are showing faults. Still learning some of the advanced functions, but so far I'm very happy with it.

Worth the upgrade for a serious DIYer
